Weekend Creativity

I've discovered that weekends are when I love to get my work done. I resisted this for a long time because I wanted my weekends to be a time for sitting in a park doing nothing but drinking coconut water (more on that later) and listening to the sounds of the city. As romantic as that sounds, it gets me absolutely nowhere in terms of my ever-growing "to-do" list. (How can it just keep growing?!). I was finally forced to scrap my "do nothing" dreams for something a bit more practical. Now that I'm at peace with my official weekend worker status, I've been powering through all my work like it's, well, my job. (wah wah!)

In other news, I have a shoot tonight and I'm slightly worried about it. Worried because through a very curious chain of events, I managed to removed a giant patch of skin from the bottom of my foot last night. How it happened makes no sense, all that matters is that it hurts like crazy and I've been limping around all morning. And the prospect of 2 hours on my broken-down foot tonight makes me cringe a little. Currently every step feels like someone stabbing the bottom of my foot with a nail. Delightful, huh? Hopefully my new shoot shoes will help to pull me through. They're such a win in cuteness alone, they've got to help ease the blow of taking a step, right? Let's hope!

More blogs to come this week including two amazing portrait sessions and an engagement shoot bursting with love!! Hope you're all having a fantastic weekend.

ps. Coconut water is the best thing on all the earth. If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and go check it out. If you've tried it and hate it... well, I hate to do this over the internet, but we're gonna have to break up. It's not me, it's you. If you already love the coconut water, then I already love you. :)

inspiration & concentration.

today I scheduled a "work day" for myself. I already work M-F full time at my office job, so the fact that I had to schedule a day to get work done on a Saturday proves how far behind I've been on post-processing and other little photog things. Good thing I love working on images of the beautiful people that I shoot or else this day of rest and work would be more like a day of torture.

Does everyone out there know about the free wi-fi at Starbucks? This magical-ness just started a few days ago and it is saving my life in all kinds of ways today. For one - I can never concentrate when I try to get work done in my apartment. My big plans for getting work done at home always turn into a night of watching West Wing (!!) and playing around on facebook. fyi – these things are not, in fact, work. Second thing - I am easily inspired when sitting in Starbucks. The colors, the mood, the constant smell of coffee and the cool jazz music get my creative juices flowing and will me to focus. I bet if I picked up this little place and plopped it into my living room I would actually be able to get work done at home for a change. You'd just have to take the West Wing dvd's away from me to prevent temptation...

An iphone shot of my view...... :)

Hope you all have a great weekend! Some fancy pics from my shoot with the very adorable Heather G. are coming tomorrow, so check back!
