The last time I've felt this exhausted was the all-nighter I pulled in college while studying for exams. Man oh man, we were beat up by this 12 hour day! My body is telling me I'm just not as young as I thought I was lol!
The rest of our drive through South Dakota was beautiful and calm. We had some extra sleep this morning so we missed the sunset but I was happy for the change for more rest. Our next state was Wyoming which we both completely forgot that we were driving through until about 20 minutes before we entered the state. What a nice surprise! We couldn't help but wonder how people live in Wyoming. We saw more roadkill that people and cars combined. Serena has this horrible habit of trying to guess what kind of animal it was before it become roadkill. I usually close my eyes and try not to think about the poor little creature on the road. In addition to roadkill, we saw a ton of cows! We just can't figure out what the difference is between all black cows and brown cows? We guessed type of beef but we really have no idea. Anyone have any insights into this??
Serena took a nice nap somewhere between Wyoming and our crossing the state line into Montana. I enjoyed driving the empty roads while she napped. There was a stretch where I didn't see another car for at least 2 hours. Again - how do you live here? It definitely gives you an appreciation for the intense vastness of the open space in this part of the world. Hundreds of miles and only a single house to be seen. Also that "more bars in more places" thing that at&t has going on clearly does not apply to Montana! More like "no bars in all places". We ended our day driving into the breathtaking Montana sunset. I've never seen a sky look quite like that, and I definitely witnessed some gorgeous Hawaii sunsets in my day.
All in all, the 750 miles of driving we did today is not something I would want to do again soon. No matter how beautiful any part of the world is, it all gets quite boring after a while. Tomorrow is the last day of our journey, kind of hard to believe. Serena woke up this morning asking if it was day 2 or day 3. It's all blending together! We'll be in Seattle around 5pm tomorrow and will also have completely the transition into pacific time. We'll be 3 hours behind the east coast and 3 hours ahead of seattle. I can't believe we actually did this!!
